Science
*Our chicory root fibre/native chicory inulin ingredient is supported by two health claims authorised in the UK (GB NHC) and EU (EFSA). 1. Chicory root fibre contributes to proper gut function by increasing stool frequency. Each 500ml bottle of ió contains 4.5g of chicory root fibre and is ideal as part of a varied, balanced diet and healthy lifestyle. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 12g of chicory root fibre, which is 2.7 x 500ml bottles of ió. 2. Furthermore, chicory root fibre (a non-digestible carbohydrate) contributes to better blood glucose management. The wording for the claim may read: “Consumption of foods/drinks containing non-digestible carbohydrates instead of sugars induce a lower blood glucose rise after meals compared to sugar-containing foods/drinks.” ** ió contains 6g of dietary fibre, of which 4.5g is prebiotic fibre. UK government guidelines recommend 30g of dietary fibre per day for adults as part of a healthy balanced diet. The International Scientific Association for Probiotics and Prebiotics recommends consuming 3-5g of prebiotic fibre (aka prebiotics) daily to confer a health benefit.
